Some of these are very good. I am not convinced that postprocessing is necessary. I especially like the textured area (the hair in the German portrait, some of the fur) and there are two reasons why it is less good in the untextured areas: 1) sparser lines; 2) lines are too parallel. A different distribution of line directions (e.g., particles move at an angle to the vector field, not always following the vector field) would help a lot.
