Stippling based on grayness

After halftoning, there are nearly half number of black dots, nearly half number of white dots, and very few grey dots.

  1. Something has gone wrong. How can it be that the image ends up half white and half black?

Anyway, the finished version (after halftoning is completed) will be uninteresting. We need to see it after it is (say) 25% complete, so 75% of the pixels are still grey. Then draw the black and white pixels at 4x size (2x2) and see how this looks.
